![]() |
Roadrunner Gordon Mark Webber is a vocalist who has evolved from a South London based "club singer" to an exceptionally versatile singer songwriter. He has performed with internationally renowned musicians in major venues throughout the U.S.A., Europe and Africa. What makes Gordon so different is not just his vocal expertise and delivery but the extensive range of styles that he covers. Dependent only upon the occasion he performs anything from original material to Jazz, Blues and Soul covers. From gentle ballads to powerful blues, he is definitely not just another Jazz Singer. When not performing with the Roadrunners, Gordon often performs with a solo guitarist or pianist for smaller venues or more intimate events. He performs for the occasion, catering for all tastes and ages. |

The CD: NO NEED FOR LABELS
Gordon Mark Webber's album "No need for labels" is released on FMR's Ultimate Grove UGCD10 -0403 CD Reviews "No need for labels, no need indeed, what label could you apply anyway. This CD is soaked in jazz feeling, played by technically immaculate musicians interpreting fine tunes in which those composed by the band leader/vocalist himself need fear no challenge. Gordon's voice is unique and his own. Altogether a thoughtful and delightful collection." George Melly (One of the UK's most ubiquitous Jazz critics and writers). "FMR have discovered a gem in Webber. With a rich soulful voice and understated delivery he is a must for "dinner jazz" fans. As well as original compositions "no need for labels" features superb covers of "Nights in white satin", "What a difference a day makes" "The long and winding road" and Lionel Riche's "Hello". Ian Fenton Harmonia Mundi (Harmonia Mundi are one of Europe's leading and respected distributors of Classical and Jazz music). "Heard this guy at a Mayfair wine bar, fronting an 8 piece soul band with a hi energy vocal performance that has to be heard to be believed. The album is a shock! Gordon has put together some fine, known (and not so well known) jazzers. Play "No need" and hear a singer who is world apart from the Mayfair wine bar performer. The album is a joy, and the vocal performance oozes subtle, experienced colourful blues. Why FMR (the record company) have categorised this superb soul and brilliant blues man as "jazz" heaven only knows?" George C "Souled & Blue" (Souled & Blue London "fanzine" and specialist publications) "I really enjoyed this CD; very well done I am sure we will see much more of Gordon Mark in the future!" Digby Fairweather (an ambassador to British jazz and superb trumpeter) "No Need for labels" is released and distributed by Harmonia Mundi in the UK, USA, Japan and Germany and is available from all major (HMV, Virgin, Tower....) and smaller good UK record stores. |
